A three-phase experience
Dementia Live® replicates the sensory and cognitive challenges people with dementia face every day — so participants walk away with more than sympathy. They walk away with understanding.
Preparation
Participants modify their sensory abilities using specialized equipment: darkened glasses for altered vision, textured gloves to reduce dexterity, and headphones with disorienting noise.
Experience Room
Each participant is given a verbal list of everyday tasks — sorting silverware, folding laundry, or setting a table — while sensory restrictions simulate the confusion and frustration of dementia.
Empowerment Session
Experience room observers note task completion and behaviors, which shape the empowerment session that follows — turning what participants felt into practical, more compassionate approaches to care.
